Leah's Kitchen Thanksgiving Dinner
Each year, one week before Thanksgiving Day, Brotherhood members were pleased to help make the annual Leah's Kitchen Thanksgiving Dinner possible. Each year Harold Pollman and his wife Leah entertain and provide dinner for about 250 residents of Dallas' Vickery Meadow area ... and each year Brotherhood is pleased to help out.
Brotherhood members pitched in by slicing up a couple dozen turkeys and heating up all the food: stuffing, potatoes, yams, green beans, gravy, and of course cranberry sauce. We take over the Tobian kitchen and have a crew of our members start slicing turkeys at about 3 PM for dinner at 6:30. Also, although the rest of the food is purchased, it arrives cold and needs to be warmed. We utilize every oven and warming cabinet in the kitchen to get all of the food heated. There are normally about 30 trays of side dishes and about a dozen trays of turkey to be heated and then delivered to Pollman Hall at the other end of the building.
Over the years our guys have become expert turkey carvers.
